Wellbright School is growing, and we are looking for a strong, caring, dependable School Leader to help lead one of our micro-school locations.

Wellbright is a small, community-based micro-school serving children ages 6–15 studying in small, multi-age groups of 12 students per group maximum. We use a personalized, mastery-based approach where students are supported according to their actual skills, needs, maturity, and interests — not simply by grade level.

Our school is free of religion and politics, with a strong emphasis on academics, life skills, character, healthy habits, communication, responsibility, and real-world learning.

Position Overview

The School Leader is responsible for making sure the school day runs smoothly, safely, and according to Wellbright protocols. This person guides a small team of learning coaches, supports students throughout the day, keeps parents informed, and helps maintain a calm, structured, respectful learning environment.

This is not an office-based administrative position. At Wellbright, the School Leader is actively present with students and serves as a learning coach, mentor, counselor, role model, and main point of contact for families.

Student safety, quality of education, parent communication, and consistency with Wellbright School protocols are critically important.

Wellbright uses an innovative, personalized approach to education, so flexibility and an open mindset are essential. A rigid traditional school mindset may be an obstacle in this role.

Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

The School Leader will:

• Lead daily school operations
• Guide and support a small team of learning coaches
• Ensure student safety, supervision, and well-being
• Support students with academic work, routines, projects, behavior, and life skills
• Serve as the main point of contact for families
• Keep parents informed about student progress, concerns, and school updates
• Communicate clearly with students, parents, staff, and the school director
• Follow and implement Wellbright School protocols
• Support individualized learning rather than a one-size-fits-all approach
• Help students develop responsibility, confidence, manners, self-discipline, and independence
• Lead by example through direct involvement with students

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required – Master’s degree preferred
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience working with children required – Experience working with children with special needs is a strong plus
• Strong judgment, maturity, reliability, and common sense
• Ability to guide a small team and follow school protocols carefully

  Working Conditions and Physical

This position requires regular movement throughout the school environment. The employee may be required to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, kneel, reach, and move between activity areas; participate and supervise indoor and outdoor activities; and occasionally lift or move instructional materials, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

Schedule: 5-day a week school schedule with in-class hours from 9am till 3pm.

Location: Wellbright School serves families in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and surrounding areas.

Wellbright is a forward-thinking micro-school dedicated to holistic education, life skills development, and individualized learning.

Position Overview
Wellbright is seeking an elementary school teacher for students age 6-10.

The teacher role is a blend of classroom teacher, tutor, and student mentor. About half of the work involves helping students with academic subjects, and the other half involves supporting students’ behavior, motivation, confidence, and emotional regulation throughout the day.

Ideal candidate:

• Enjoys working with children of elementary and early middle school age
• Can incorporate elements of game into teaching
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to develop a strong connection with children and families
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance community
• Must have a warm, supportive, and patient attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
• Kind, thoughtful, and strong at guiding children in self-motivated learning and helping stimulate their natural desire to learn
• Has tutoring, childcare, teaching, coaching, or youth leadership experience
• Is patient, calm, dependable, and emotionally mature
• Understands that some children need extra help with behavior, focus, and self-control
• Can be firm when needed while remaining kind and respectful
• Has tutoring, childcare, teaching, coaching, or youth leadership experience
• Familiarity with Montessori and/or Waldorf education philosophy is a BIG plus

Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree
• Prior teaching experience, but recent college graduates with Education Major are welcome to apply for entry level positions
• Must be dependable, calm, patient, and able to support students with both academic and behavioral challenges
• Completion of a background check and strong references are required

Duties and responsibilities:

• Lesson planning, providing one on one lessons, and guiding students 6-10 years old

• Teach small multi-age groups of students following the principles of Wellbright Model

• Observing and recording student learning and growth
• Supporting each child to learn at his/her own pace
• Promoting the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under their care
• Actively develop and maintain positive parent relationships
• Keep parents stay informed of the progress of their child
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence
• Responsible to supervise the classroom by helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and respect themselves and others
• Model appropriate behavior for both students and staff.
• Be active participant in Wellbright community events and happenings

Working Conditions

This position requires regular movement throughout the school environment. The employee may be required to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor; participate and supervise indoor and outdoor activities.

Work week is 4 days, typically from 8:45 till 3:15.

Pay starts from $22.00 per hour
